If you've ever wanted to photograph in Ireland, learn in a small group, and spend an entire day asking every question you've ever wanted to ask me...this is for you.

On September 16th, I'll be spending the day in County Meath with a small group of photographers for something that combines newborn, family, business, content making, marketing aaaaand frolicking around the magic countryside of Ireland.

We'll start the morning in Caroline Quinn's beautiful studio at 9 AM and we'll talk through all the things that go into a successful session before the baby arrives  — how I set up my light, how I prepare parents, how I walk into every shoot with confidence.

Our model will arrive at 10, and for the next two hours, you'll get to watch an entire newborn session unfold in real time, asking questions whenever you want. Take all the behind-the-scenes video you want, or sit back and observe!

Then we'll make our way to Bective Abbey, which feels like something straight out of a movie set. Ancient stone walls, archways, textures, fields, trees, and endless opportunities to create images that feel cinematic and full of story.

We'll spend the rest of the afternoon talking about how to find light, shape light, and use your environment to create photographs that feel less like poses and more like memories.

Our model family will arrive at 6:30 PM, and you'll get to watch me photograph the session from start to finish while I explain what I'm seeing, why I'm making certain decisions, and how I'm using the environment around us to create images that feel natural, connected, and full of story. We'll be photographing among the ruins of Bective Abbey, but we'll also be using the fields, trees, pathways, and whatever Ireland decides to give us that day. One of the biggest mistakes photographers make is becoming too attached to a location and not paying enough attention to the light. I'll show you how I use both.

After I've worked through the session, each photographer will have an opportunity to step in and photograph the family themselves. I'll help with direction, lighting, storytelling, and all the little things that can be difficult to see when you're in the middle of a session.

The entire day is intentionally laid back. Take all the behind-the-scenes footage you want. Ask questions whenever they come to mind. If you want to know why I did something, ask. If you're struggling with something in your own business, ask. Nothing is off limits.

My goal isn't for you to leave with a notebook full of information you'll never look at again -- It's for you to leave with practical things you can actually implement, a better understanding of light and storytelling, new images for your portfolio, and probably a few new photographer friends that keep going after we've all gone home!

Any remaining seats will open to the public on July 14, 2026.

Attendance is extremely limited to keep the experience personal, hands-on, and relaxed.

Afterward, we'll head to the Hill of Tara for lunch...if you've never been there, it's one of those places that makes Ireland feel like Ireland. Rolling green hills, ancient history, stories of kings and folklore around every corner. We'll grab lunch, stretch our legs, and talk about light: cloudy light. or midday light - the kind of light I used to avoid, but now embrace! Everyone will get a chance to take each other's headshots here! After headshots, we'll head back to the studio to talk business, marketing and create content together!

Once we've wrapped up, we'll head to Bellinter House for an optional dinner, which is also where I recommend staying if you're traveling in for the workshop. It's a beautiful old estate nearby, and dinner is usually where some of the best conversations happen. We'll talk about photography, of course, but one of my favorite things about smaller workshops is that there isn't a strict line between "teaching time" and "not teaching time." Some of the most valuable conversations happen over lunch, during the drive between locations, or sitting around a dinner table at the end of the day when everyone is relaxed and willing to ask the questions they were nervous to ask earlier.
